O movimento Nigôlo teve seu início formal no ano de 1991, com a chegada de Lua Santana e família a Morro do Chapéu, uma cidade localizada na Chapada Diamantina, Bahia, Brasil, onde adquiriu uma pequena área de terra para reflorestamento e preservação ecológica.

Paralelamente, com o objetivo maior de proporcionar a crianças e jovens em situação de vulnerabilidade social, a apropriação de saberes e atitudes que contribuíssem para o alcance da tão almejada “felicidadania”, brota também, em 1994, o Grupo de Capoeira Angola, que vai, paulatinamente, aglutinando os elementos necessários, (entre os quais destacamos o brilho de alma da alemã Ana Maria Jacobs), para a concretização de um Projeto social mais conhecido hoje como Projeto Minhoca.

Posteriormente, fruto do também feliz encontro de Lua Santana com Suni, Luca Tomasi e Barbara, brota, em Munique, Alemanha, mais dois núcleos do referido movimento que, a partir da sua prática de Capoeira Angola, substancia também, junto a outras entidades, a execução do Projeto acima citado e do Herbarium, (ver link), projeto ecológico que começa a tomar forma, tendo como principal objetivo a contribuição carinhosa pela preservação da nave mãe, Planeta terra.

Desse modo, nos arvoramos a definir a Capoeira Angola que praticamos, nascida dos mais legítimos anseios de liberdade do nobre povo negro, como uma dança, um diálogo, um ritual, um jogo, um cultivo, um sentimento, uma “vadiagem”, uma construção/comunhão grupal, enfim, uma “artimanha” de celebração da vida, voltada para o aperfeiçoamento do corpo, da mente e do espírito, na trilha pela harmonia do ser, por um mundo mais digno.

Die Idee von Nigôlo begann formal im Jahre 1991, mit dem Eintreffen von Lua Santana und seiner Familie in Morro de Chapéu, einer Stadt in der Chapada Diamantine, Bahia, Brasil. Hier kaufte er ein kleines Stück Land mit dem Ziel der Wiederbewaldung und Erhaltung der Natur.

Parallel wurde dort 1994 die Capoeira Angola Gruppe Nigôlo gegründet, die gerade den bedürftigen Kindern aus den ärmeren Stadtteilen Halt und Selbstbewußtsein für eine Gleichberechtigung in der Gesellschaft gibt ("Felicidadania"). Daraus wuchs (insbesondere auch durch den Einsatz der Deutschen Ana Maria Jacobs) die Idee und Umsetzung des Sozialprojekts "Minhoca".

Sodann, infolge des glücklichen Zusammentreffens von Lua Santana mit Suni, Luca und Barbara, wuchsen auch in München zwei neue Nigôlo "Keimzellen". Auch diese Gruppen sind verbunden in der Capoeira Angola, und unterstützen, zusammen mit weiteren Organisationen, die Projekte "Minhoca" und "Herbarium". Beim letzteres handelt es sich um ein ökologisches Projekt mit dem Ziel, die Natur vorort zu schätzen und schützen.

Vor diesem Hintergrund definieren wir Capoeira Angola im traditionellen Sinne als das Strebens des schwarzen Brasiliens nach Freiheit, als Tanz, als Dialog, als Ritual, als Spiel, als Kultur, im jedem Einzelnen, in der Gemeinschafltichkeit, und schließlich als Ausdruck für das Leben selbst. Durch das physische Training, und das Schärfen der Sinne und des Geistes treten wir ein für eine Harmonie mit der Schöpfung, für eine würdigere Welt.

Nigôlo tooks its beginning in 1991 when Lua Santana and his family moved to Morro do Chapéu, a village in the Chapada Diamantina, Bahia, Brazil. There he bought a small piece of land with the aim of living there following the principles of environmental sustainability and preservation, including reforestation of the whole area.

During the same period, in 1994, started the group of Capoeira Angola, having the main objective of helping the most socially vulnerable children and young people giving them the knowledge and confidence to be part of the “felicidadania”. Slowly, thanks also to the help of Ana Maria Jacobs, it brought together the necessary elements for the realisation of the social project nowadays known as Projeto Minhoca (port. = earthworm).

Afterwards, thanks to the encounter of Lua Santana with Suni, Luca and Barbara Tomasi, two more groups of the above mentioned movement were born in Munich, Germany. These groups, on the basis of Capoeira Angola, support together along with other entities, the Minhoca Project and also the Herbarium, an ecological project that is starting to take shape, having as main objective the preservation of Mother Earth.

In this way, we define the Capoeira Angola that we practice, being born of the most legitimate yearnings of freedom of the black people, as a dance, a dialogue, a ritual, a game, a culture, a feeling, a "vagrancy", a group joining, and at last, a "cunning" of the celebration of life, directed toward the union of body, mind and spirit, in the path for the harmony of the being, for a worthier world.
