Nightingale House Hospice, Wrexham provides specialist palliative care services free of charge to patients and their families who are living with life threatening diseases such as cancer.

These services include a 16-bed inpatient ward, a daycare unit for up to 15 patients, 4 days a week, an outpatient clinic including a specialist lymphoedema unit, occupational therapy, complementary therapies, physiotherapy which includes hydrotherapy in our purpose-built pool, an ambulance service for patients, as well as an excellent range of bereavement support services including the Release programme; a specialist service for children and young adults.

The Hospice’s area covers Wrexham County Borough, Flintshire, East Denbighshire, the A494 corridor to Bala, Dolgellau and Barmouth and the Border region including Oswestry, Ellesmere, Wem and Whitchurch.

It will cost £2.55 million to maintain our current level of palliative care services at the Hospice, this equates to £7,000 per day. This year, only 18% (a reduction of 2% over last year) of its funding will come from statutory sources. The Hospice greatly relies on the generosity of the communities it serves and is working hard to make donations from the general public go further whilst maintaining the highest standards of service that it can provide.
