night photographer's photostream

I took my first night photograph in early 2006, ever since then I've been hooked. I am 100% self taught, I bought a camera with no prior knowledge of photography whatseover. However it's very important to say that my work was not self inspired. A lot of night photographers forget (or are unaware) how they're even shooting right now - it's because of people like Steve Harper, Troy Paiva and Tim Baskerville : The Nocturnes.
In 2006 I was captivated by The Nocturnes, photographers such as David Baldwin, Lance Keimig and Sean McHugh - disappointingly, names people on this website have never heard of. I guess what I'm trying to say, if you're a new school night photographer (like me don't worry!), trace this thing back to it's roots before you start preaching (like I do!). Everything you've done was done a century ago....trust me.
This is not directed at one person, it's just from my experiences over the past 5 years there are a lot of 'funny' people in this game haha.

CowGummy says:
"There's something extremely captivating about night_photographers work. It appears to sum up both the art of capturing light & shade, as well as a dedicated eye to his subjects.
The greatest aspect of his body of work though would have to be the versatlity with which this dude shoots.
Keep 'em comin' man."9th November, 2007

"James is one of the best photographers in the style of work he produces that I know of/seen.
Almost all of his night images amaze me and I look forward to when he uploads a new batch haha.
The first thing I thought when I first seen his work was along the lines of "wtf.. how the hell!? :S :|"
Hes a very polite and nice guy aswell!
Top lad James!"14th June, 2007
