I just enjoy taking/making pictures.
I use both film and digital and enjoy both.
Pixels are free and it is easier and more convenient to use digital technology, particularly, for Flickr.
But it is not as satisfying to me in many ways.
Cameras are tools, which you need to get to know and become familiar with, if you are to express yourself and feel comfortable with. Digital cameras, bleep, whirr, have too many dials and buttons, for me to feel any attachment for them. We seem to change them every few years, so no bond ever forms. I often feel i am fighting the thing to get it to do what i want.
I have got to grips with my 40D now and we get on fine. But i still feel, i am operating a computer, which takes the picture. The Canon engineers are responsible for the sharp action pictures of Pico.
But when i pick up a film camera there seems to be far fewer impediments to taking a picture. Technique and exposure, becomes, how big is the hole and how long should it be open. Simple. Then it is down to the aesthetics. What do i want to point it at, what is to be sharp, where should i place the tone, shapes and object of my picture to say what i want. Done. The only whurring, was my brain.
I much prefer, the thrill of developing a film and messing with different developers than playing with Photoshop.
But despite the griping ,i am comfortable with both methods, and am lucky to be able to switch beween them as the mood and fancy take me.
Without digital photography far fewer people would be taking pictures and there would be no Flickr.
If you took up Photography in the digital age and have not tried film, do yourself a favour and give it a go.
For the price of a basic DSLR, which will be obsolete in a few years, you could buy a classic camera with excellent optics, which will last a lifetime. Or try a pinhole camera?

Johny Day says:
"It's an honor for me to be the 1st one to write a testimonial about Robin , his ability to capture his love for animals is obvious in his photography.
No doubt in my mine that is relationship with his dog Pico is equal to the one I have with my own dog Holly .
I often have to pick my jaw of the keyboard when I look at his photos , the way he capture the light , the action , the clarity , the quality and I could go on and on ..
Robin in my opinion is part of a handful of truly talented photographer on Flickr that can connect to their camera not only with a good eye but with a good heart .
Pico is a incredible photogenic dog and they are lucky to have each other.
Keep up the good work my friend , you are definitively an inspiration to me
