The New York District protects America's security
(Military, Economic, and Environmental) and supports the American public within District boundaries by:

* Performs military construction for the Army and the Air Force.

* Provides flood damage reduction and coastal storm damage reduction.
Maintains navigability of rivers and harbors.

* Plans, builds and manages water resources and other Civil Works projects in cooperation with other federal and state agencies and local sponsors.

* Provides design and construction management support for other defense and federal, state and local agencies.

* Furnishes Emergency Operations support in response to natural and national disasters.

* Executes environmental remediation programs for the Department of Defense and the Environmental Protection Agency.

* Supports and assists many federal and local public agencies with their security, construction and other needs on a reimbursable basis.
