When the North Carolina Community Development Initiative was founded in 1994, its mission was to build prosperity out of poverty and to serve those who are underserved. Today, that vision and purpose live on as the Initiative delivers the resources and supports which assist community development corporations throughout the state in building robust, sustainable communities.

The Initiative continues to introduce innovative programs designed to create jobs, support small businesses, and provide affordable housing options. With the help of partners in both the public and private sectors, we are able to invest in community economic development work and improve the quality of life for North Carolinians.
