Of het nu voor het eerst is of niet, een bezoek aan Naturalis in Leiden blijft een avontuur. Waar anders sta je oog in oog met een achttien meter lange dinosauriër of wolharige mammoet? En waar zie je een komodovaraan of orang-oetan van zò dichtbij?

In Naturalis vertellen meer dan 10.000 échte dieren, planten, stenen en fossielen uit de hele wereld het verhaal van onze planeet. Ontdek hoe de aarde en het leven een samenhangend geheel vormen. Miljoenen jaren oude fossielen in Oerparade zijn stille getuigen van de ontwikkeling en ondergang van leven. In Natuurtheater vergaap je je aan de vele nog bestaande vormen van leven. Naturalis is bij uitstek een museum voor het hele gezin. Om heerlijk in rond te dwalen en een eigen route te kiezen.

Whether it's your first visit, Leiden Natural History Museum Naturalis remains an adventure. Where else can you come face to face with an 18-metre-long dinosaur or a woolly mammoth? And where can you see a Komodo dragon or orang-utan from so close by?

In Naturalis, more than 10.000 real animals, plants, minerals, rocks and fossils from all over the world tell the story of our planet.
Discover how earth and life form an inseperable whole. The fossils in the Primeval Parade, which date back millions of years, are the silent witnesses of the evolution and decline of many life forms.
In Nature's Theatre you can also admire a multitude of current life forms. Naturalis is first and foremost a family museum. Made for you to wander around and discouver its delight at your leisure.

12 million objects
More than just a museum:
Naturalis is the Netherlands' principal centre for the knowledge of biodiversity and manages the geology archives. The collection comprises over 12 million animals, rocks and fossils. These collections are stored in the collection tower. You can have a peak in this tower from a computer screen in the museum.

In addition to its extensive permanent exhibitions, Naturalis devotes up to three galleries to temporary exhibitions currently on show.
