"High-five, Mr. S.I.!! One of the best things about flickr is to learn to see the world through the eyes of other people. I have met many people on this site who I now consider cyberfriends but I am particularly lucky because Nate and Meg were friends well before the flickritis kicked in.
Nate and Meg’s photos will transport you to so many different worlds. They see what so many others miss. Nate and Meg’s images are rich in detail and yet broad in scope. I find your work truly inspirational. It is art that is illustrative of a photographer who is not afraid to challenge conventions or explore new techniques and who is not afraid to capture what others overlook. Nate and Meg not only look, but they truly see, they not only hear, but they truly listen.
We have known each other for a long time and yet navigating through your stream I feel like I am meeting you all over again through your lens. I love your adventurous spirit and your fearlessness in the way that you travel and view the world. I admire your open-mindedness (is that a word?) and your ability to connect with people. This is a true talent that you have and this empathy shines through with the incredibly beautiful and sensitive portraits that you capture. Your subjects somehow trust you without knowing you. They must immediately feel what I already know- you are soulful, genuine and kind.
Beyond all that, you are fond of, or at least tolerate, drunken ramblings and repeated "hiiieeeees" ...cool.
Thanks for telling me about flickr. Thanks for being such awesome friends…and, most importantly, thanks for S.I. ;-)"12th January, 2007

"Natemeg's photographs trapped me with their beauty. The first black and white image that I saw was of a boy on a horse. The youth stares as the horse pulls away, its rippling muscles undulating in the strong sunlight. The shot is timeless and immediate.
Another picture is of a girl curled up in the sand, her hair forming a halo. The black and white image picks out the striated sand and her footsteps tripping back into oblivion.
You find yourself pulled further and further into Natemeg's work. The smoking Broad, the girl with her head in the clouds, the student climbing the hill and the S American chief and his family. They are all pictures marked by the intense curiosity of the photographer, his respect for his subjects' humanity and eye for composition.
But what of colour? Check out his Brazil set. What a shock of intensity! Reds, burnt oranges, electric blues, emerald greens - the intense and living colours of this great country.
To take just a couple of pictures - look at the Bahia traditional woman. She turns to the camera, frowning angrily. Her handsome proud face is framed by an elaborate Prussian blue and ivory white scarf. Her finger pokes into the foreground warning us off and forming an elegant contrast with the pale creams of the background. Echoes of Goya's Donna Antonia Zarate. It takes enormous empathy to portray an angry woman with such morality.
Clicking through more and more striking images you come across his custard and cinnamon Olinda Yellow Building. Here the windows and doors strike a Mondrianesque pattern punctured by louvred blinds and a pedestrian head. Design and colour unite and the result is a scorching essay in sunlight, form and aestheticism.
Natemeg's photographs are thoughtful, his vision intelligent and his approach to his subjects humane. All this is overlain with a sure eye and a vision that results in art. Natemeg's images are unique and art at it best. Art that connects. Look at his pictures and connect with his world."10th January, 2006
