Hi, my name is Emily. I write, I knit, I photograph things. Well, and I tend to run off at the mouth about my squawky liberal feminist politics, but those are hard to get pictures of.

I've been what I'd call a serious amateur photographer for the last ten years or so, but I've been taking pictures of things all the way back to when I was six years old and would waste a whole roll of film on our poor cat and random sectors of whatever the cat was hiding near with my little Vivitar 110. Right now I have a Nikon N65 named Ansel and a nameless FinePix S5700 that I like quite a lot. Am also one of the many in that "I'm going to get a DSLR when I'm rich" place.

I'm a few months from thirty, work as a reference associate for the library system east of Dayton. It's in the middle of a pretty little Victorian town and the only land around Dayton that isn't hideously flat and dull (I went to university out in the southeastern part of the state, where you could take a picture of something interesting by dropping the camera on the ground), so I tend to drive my cameras around a lot and take pictures of my animals once I go home and remember that I have a camera that needs to come in from the car. I also like to take pictures of waterfalls and stairs lately. I don't really know what's going on with that. But in general, give me a couple of hours with some old buildings or a nice nature trail and I'll be able to keep myself entertained.

Also, and I am sad that this bears warning of: I make jokes. I'm a fairly cynical person, so sometimes I make rather dark and bitchy jokes. If you find yourself whether I really meant something snarky I said in a caption or title, chances are I probably don't. Repeat to yourself, "It's just a show, I should really just relax" (or rather, it's not, but the advice is still good).

I'll admit to keeping a LiveJournal, but since my family and I think at least one person at work know who this account is, I keep going back and forth between whether or not I ought to link that here. Ask if you're really interested, I guess, and I'll tell you.

Okay? Okay.
