The purpose of this site is to allow people to request identification information for unknown species, particularly (but not exclusively limited to) species that are suspected to be invasive and/or potentially problematic in natural areas (or to health, quality of life, agriculture, or other economic ventures).

Please feel free to submit a plant for identification.

This flickr site replaces the HEAR "mystery plants" page (www.hear.org/mysteryplants/). The reason for this is that it's easier to manage (therefore your "mystery plants" will be posted much more quickly than before).

[NOTE: previous HEAR "mystery plants" are located at www.hear.org/mysteryplants/.]

The mission of the Hawaiian Ecosystems at Risk project (HEAR) is to provide technology, methods, and information to decision-makers, resource managers, and the general public to help support effective science-based management of harmful non-native species in Hawaii and the Pacific.
