WELCOME!

Photography is a hobby I picked up in high school, and then let drop by the wayside for most of my adult life up until about the time I retired. For several years, I collected and sold vintage postcards on eBay under the name of myoldpostcards but, when the economy began to tank, I put the postcard business on hiatus and began focusing in earnest on taking pictures.

The collections you'll find here revolve around my personal interests. Since I was a young boy, I've always loved automobiles and, for much of the past three years, I have been on a mission to photograph as many old (and some new) cars and trucks as I can find. On most weekends during the warmer months, you'll find me strolling around car shows politely asking owners to put down their hoods and open their side doors so I can photograph their labor of love. This is a highly structured and rapidly growing collection of over 5,700 photos.

Some of my other photographic interests have been heavily influenced by my postcard hobby. In my "Barbers & Barber Shops", "Springfield, Illinois", "Central Illinois", and "Illinois State Fair" collections, I have attempted to approach the subject of photographing small towns and old barber shops in much the same way as an oldtime postcard photographer might have done a century ago.

You'll find a few more collections that include everything from our favorite breed of dog (Soft-Coated Wheaten Terriers) to pictures I took off the television set back in 1969 of man's first walk on the moon. My "Almost Everything Else" collection has a lot of variety, and I hope you enjoy it.

Lastly, please know that comments on my photos are always welcomed, and it delights me whenever a photo is favorited. I can't leave without giving a virtual tip of the hat to all of the outstanding photographers in Flickrland whose creativity and technical proficiency serves as a constant inspiration.
