Robert I. Carr, Ph.D., P.E. is Professor Emeritus of Civil Engineering, University of Michigan, Ann Arbor in the area of Construction Engineering and Management. His specialties include construction contracts, project controls, safety, highway congestion, information systems, and decisions under uncertainty.

Courses he developed and taught are Construction Contracting, Building Construction, Construction Cost Engineering, Construction Decisions Under Uncertainty, Construction Management Information Systems, and Timber Design.

Dr. Carr is Founding Vice Chair of the Construction Innovation Forum and Founder of the NOVA Award for the most important innovations in construction worldwide. He is past Editor of the ASCE Journal of Construction Engineering and Management and Chaired the Construction Division of ASCE and the Architectural Engineering Division of ASEE. He is a recipient of the Peurifoy Construction Research Award from the ASCE.
