THE McCORD MUSEUM:
The McCord is a public research and teaching museum that preserves our collective past - over 1,375,000 objects, images and manuscripts, irreplaceable reflections of the social history and material culture of Montreal, Quebec and Canada - a true source of inspiration. The McCord reaches out to the world by exploring contemporary issues and engaging with communities at the local, national and international level to further the appreciation and understanding of our heritage.
Notman Photographic Archives
Institutions and researchers from all over the world consult the Notman Photographic Archives. Through its thousands of images - landscapes, well-known people, families, places, events, activities - these historically invaluable Archives provide a visual history of Montreal, Quebec and Canada from the 1840s to the present. As well as the iconographical data bank of some 1,250,000 photographs, the Archives include various items of early photographic equipment and accessories.
- Over 450,000 photographs (including 200,000 glass negatives), taken by the Notman studio during its 78 years of existence. Each glass negative is accompanied by a print that is identified, listed and classified in numerical order in one of 200 albums, and in alphabetical order in one of 43 other albums.
- Principal period: 1840-1935.
- About 800,000 images taken by other photographers (from the 19th century to the present), including such known figures as Alexander Henderson and John Taylor.

Un Musée de recherche, à vocation éducative, qui préserve plus de 1 375 000 objets, images et manuscrits, témoins irremplaçables de l'histoire sociale et de la culture matérielle de Montréal, du Québec et du Canada. Un Musée qui aborde les enjeux de notre époque, incitant à la réflexion, et qui s'engage auprès des communautés à l'échelle locale, nationale et internationale pour la préservation et la mise en valeur de notre patrimoine collectif.
Archives photographiques Notman
Des institutions et des chercheurs du monde entier consultent les Archives photographiques Notman. Ces archives documentent par l'image l'histoire de Montréal, du Québec et du Canada (paysages, personnalités, familles, lieux, événements, activités...) des années 1840 jusqu'à nos jours. Cette banque iconographique d'une valeur historique inestimable regroupe quelque 1 250 000 photographies ainsi que divers appareils et accessoires photographiques anciens.
-Plus de 450 000 photographies (dont 200 000 négatifs sur verre), prises par le studio Notman au cours de ses 78 ans d'existence. Chaque négatif sur verre est accompagné d'une épreuve supplémentaire, identifiée, répertoriée et classée par ordre numérique dans un des 200 albums et par ordre alphabétique dans un des 43 albums.
-Période principale : 1840-1935.
-Environ 800 000 images prises par d'autres photographes (du XIXe siècle à nos jours), tels Alexander Henderson et John Taylor.
