I am a retired artist still making art and taking photos (or shall I say 'digital images'?).

My first SLR camera was a Pentax 1000. Our instructor said that Pentax rarely advertises because they don't need to. He also told the class in the early 1980's that film was going to disappear. We were incredulous at the time.

I started out with a digital camera in 2004, a Nikon 4800 point/shoot, then an SLR Sony a100 in September 2006. It was highly recommended in a DPR review. In December 2008, I got a Carl Zeiss lens 16-80.

January 2010, I'm starting the year with an upgrade, a Sony A700 and a good tripod. There is a marked difference between the Sony A100 and the Sony A700. Now, I find out that the CZ lens was actually created to go with the Sony A700.

My best photograph is always the one I am going to take next.

Right now, I'm looking at the work of William Eggleston.

I would describe my photostream as self-indulgent serendipity. There may be a pattern to it but it is not deliberate.

My favourite saying is:
"The world is so full of a number of things
We all should be happy as kings." RLS
