This High Velocity Gantry (HVG) for die finishing delivers 3 times the productivity of conventional machines in a single set-up.

An automotive die that once required 250 hours of machining time and another 100 hours for polishing can now be produced in just 40 hours and go directly into the press with no spotting or tryout.

The HVG uses linear motors instead of ball screws to drive the gantry, ram and saddle. Linear motors can produce feed rates over 30m/min., rapid traverse rates to 40m/min., and acceleration/deceleration rates to .4g's.

With the HVG, the depth of cut and stepover on each pass can be kept to a minimum, resulting in cusps that require little or no polishing.
