On me.

My prints are for sale at Zenfolio. Thanks to those of you who have expressed in interest in buying them!

I am a technologist by day, but people who know me from the geeky side of my background don't know that I'm a trained pianist, and finished my musical studies with one of the most sought-after pedagogues on the planet, the redoubtable Eleanor Sokoloff of The Curtis Institute of Music. You'll find lots of pics of musical subjects here! Read on!

I'm a frequent clinician and guest speaker on such subjects as rapid video, E-Learning, Digital Asset Management, and Web 2.0. I've spoken at such events as the Learning, 2007 conference in Orlando, Florida and was a keynote speaker at the Digital Asset Management Symposium in New York, 2006.

On Flickr groups, commenting, etc.

I submit my stuff to as many groups as I feel are relevant to my photography. Sometimes, that's 30 to 60 different groups in one shot. As a by product of that, I've been a little disappointed that many users just copy and past "award codes" and start doling them out like Halloween candy, without taking much time to really say anything meaningful about the composition. In that spirit, I choose not to do that, and I'm therefore probably behind on a number of "quotas" that have been set by some of the various groups of which I'm a part.

All I can say is that if you comment on my stuff, I will do my darndest to comment meaningfully on yours. I really don't want to copy and paste a random graphic in the comment area just to hit the quota for a group and move on. It's not really valuable to photographers who are really trying to showcase their work.

In the meantime, I appreciate honest feedback on my own work, and am more likely to visit photostreams of those who are sincere and thoughtful in their comments as it pertains to my work.

If you are a group admin, I'd love to be a part of your group, unless you use the word "banned" in your group name. In that case, I'd probably best serve as a spectator...

On fitness

I'm a long distance runner and completed my first marathon in November, 2007. I've since done 2 others, including the famous Chicago Marathon and run many other distance events each year.

On family

At home, I'm the proudest dad on the planet and have a son and 2 daughters. My beautiful wife keeps me going with creative ideas, love, and just the right amount of circumspect.

My Work

Pixeldust Films is my Interactive Media company.

I got the film bug a few years back when I saw my grandfather featured in the HBO Mini Series, Band of Brothers. Upon realizing the heroism of my grandfather, I was astounded by the power of film and the impact it had on my life. I also realized that had it not been for my grandfather, I wouldn't be here today. So I picked up a camera and just started documenting what I felt were "the important" life events that you would want to see over and over again. I also decided that this new-found passion tied to my experience as a web developer was the perfect model for my studio, and Pixeldust Films was born.

The focus of my video studio is in the area of biographical, and documentary-style videos as well as digital compositing and motion graphics. The focus of my web design studio is based on well-built, simple-to-navigate websites that use web standards.

Photographically, I do action sports photography, portraiture and other events. I love HDR photography, macro, panoramics, and landscapes. I'm trying to get better at a variety of shooting styles and formats. I bet I'll eventually look at your photos, too, as I find inspiration everywhere. I have too much software and I'm ok with that. I get pumped when people comment on my photos, and I'll always try to reciprocate as quickly as possible.

My grandfather is...

My grandfather is William "Wild Bill" Guarnere, of Band of Brothers.

Yep, Wild Bill Guarnere is my grandfather!

I built and administer the wildly popular website www.wildbillguarnere.com which receives millions of visitors each year from all over the world. The website was built as a tribute to my grandfather and given to him as a Christmas gift. In further support of that effort, I founded Wildbill International, LLC, which connects over 4000 users interested in World War 2 right from their browser and continues to raise awareness about the heroism and deeds of "the greatest generation."

Thanks for checking out my photography. Visit my web studio to see more of my digital life online.
