Montreal Watercolorist: my watercolors are a sensual dance and poetry of color, of the color on different paper textures...where ever touch of the brush takes a life of its own.
Colors mean everything to me and they they are central to my art. I come from a place with natural beauty and color, Goa, where the blue of the sea and the dark green of the coconut palms contrast and clash in the bright sunlight) and where colonial architecture stands still, where time stands still. My art is inspired by the things I see around, the dirty snow, the sky, and Rue Ste Laurent, Montreal, where life is constantly in motion; new arrivals in Canada to the old and memories of Goan country side where I was brought up.
My inspiration is: There is art everywhere (seen on a billboard in Montreal).

Growing up to an artist-craft person-couturier mother, drawing came with ease. One drew everything one saw…ah, and the colour. Drawing from the natural beauty of Goa, the greens of the country-side, the emerald sea and the red stone created an impression on me.

I have been drawing for ever and won drawing and cartooning competitions at the age of 10. At 16, I was drawing political cartoons for the front page of the local English newspaper, the West Coast Times. One drew cartoons all over, as a free-lancer from science magazines to the famed Illustrated Weekly of India.

Having fallen in love with the beauty of the pen-and-ink lines, one moved to the fluidity of watercolours and graphite on paper.
