Photographer originally from the Bronx, now Currently residing in Newark DE. While attending The High School Of Art and Design in Manhatten, I made up my mind to become an artist of some type - due to my knowing two teachers, who greatly influenced my decision - Ira Merit and Roy Biles. The funny thing is, I wasn't officially in Mr. Biles class, however I would stop in from time to time, so thank you for not kicking me out.

Concerning Photography: I don't really like to interpret my style - I'd rather let the person interpret my work for themselves; however if I had to interpret my own style, I would say that my style is an Photo journalistic style. I shoot 95% of my shots using natural lighting and rarely do I use makeup. I'm not into creating fantasies - the world isn't a fantasy. The way you see it is the way that I "eye" saw it. Most of all my work you see in my portfolio is shot with a Canon EOS 20D.

Let's Talk about Equipment for a sec; I Shoot with Canon, My gear consist of a Canon EOS 40D and Canon EOS 30D, and the Canon EOS 20D as a back up. As for Lens i'm working with a Canon EF 300MM F/4L IS USM, Sigma 70-200MM F/2.8, Sigma 24-70MM F/2.8, Tamron 19-by 35MM F/3.5 Wide Angle, Canon 50MM F/1.8 IS, and Canon 35-by 105 f/2.8 Macro Len. and a Mac PowerBook G4, for post production i work with Adobe Photoshop CS3, (preferred), and Lightroom

My Photography is about respect. Respect for the craft, respect for history, respect for the integrity of your images. I don't like to follow fads, using the same gear and techniques as everyone else. The method is about crafting images that are as ageless as your bond, images that hold their power and emotion long after trends have come and gone.

I take the artisan's approach. Choose the best tools for the moment. Create something eternal. Be innovative. Stand on the shoulders of those that have come before; I blend in and avoid directing the action, capturing splendor and authenticity as they happen. I truly believe that there is beauty in the unscripted, that the truth of the moment is lost when the photographer intervenes.

A bit more about Saquan Stimpson/monstershaq2000...

Hometown: Bronx, NY
Occupation: Photographer
Interests: Aperture In photography, the aperture defines the size of the opening in the lens, which in advanced cameras can be adjusted to control the amount of light reaching the film or digital sensor (CCD or CMOS). In combination with variation of the shutter speed, and variation in film speed (ISO), this will regulate the photograph's degree of exposure to light. Typically, a fast shutter speed will require a larger aperture to ensure a sufficient exposure to light, just as a slow shutter speed will typically require a smaller aperture to prevent excessive exposure to light. The word "aperture" means an opening, from the Latin apere, to open.A device called a diaphragm controls the aperture. The diaphragm can be considered to function much like the pupil of the eye-it controls the effective diameter of the lens opening. Reducing the aperture size increases the depth of field, which describes the extent to which subject matter lying closer than or farther from the actual plane of focus appears to be in focus. In general, the smaller the aperture (larger the number}, the greater the distance from the plane of focus the subject matter may be while still appearing in focus.LESSON OF THE MONTH.
