Many of us grew up playing with mounds of plasticine and play-dough, but I never really grew out of it. Instead, I traded in the dried and crusty playdough for mountains of polymer clay.

My name is Kimberly, but lots of folks call me Kookie. Ever since I was a kid, I've always wanted to be an artist. And I am not just saying that - I remember being asked in Kindergarten what I wanted to be when I grew up, and I distinctly remember replying that I wanted to be an artist. I didn't quite know then just what sort of artist I wanted to be, but I did know that I enjoyed making art, and I still do! What a joy it is to be twenty-four years old, living my childhood dream, and making art for people all over the world - it makes my inner child very happy! There are pieces of me on every continent of the globe, and that's just freakin' awesome to me.

To skip to the general details about myself, I don't really do much besides my claying. It's practically my life! I live in a lil' town in Southwestern Ontario, Canada, called Goderich. There isn't much going on here most of the time, but it's a pretty little place. I also have a little gig on the side at a local sweets shop in which I make gelato for the Summertime as well as chocolate bars and barks in the cooler months - it's good to get away from the Monster Kookies workspace for a little while. Being in the outside world, away from my clay, with all the sights to be seen keeps the creative juices flowing and the imagination running.

Claying really keeps me sane, actually. Most of my insanity ends up in my work, as you can tell by some of my off-the-wall designs. You don't see any Tentacle Infested Cupcakes and Killer Cupcakes in real life, do you? I'm glad to share my insanity with the rest of the world. It means even more to me that folks actually seek it out and appreciate it.

Polymer Clay is a jealous lover. If I am not playing or creating with it, it will haunt me. While I am sleeping, it will send in hoards of my Killer Cupcakes to turn my dreams into nightmares! And if I ignore it for too long, I can hear sobbing from my clay workspace in the night. It really is sensitive, you know.

When I am not wreaking havoc on my imagination and creating all the strange conconctions that it conjures up, I like to write as well. In fact, I write about polymer clay. I write about my adventures in creating my pieces, but I also write about polymer clay techniques, tips, tricks, and selling. I love to observe and admire, so I often write about my favourite independent artists, as well - the ones after my own heart who have passion and imagination! And that's really what makes the world go round, I think.
