*December Sun's photostream

I’m all about loving Jesus, photography, indie scene, music, books, Star Wars, Japan, history, Starbucks, fashion, lifestyle, vintage, interior design, gardening, Japanese maples, My so called-life show, Angela Chase, red hair, boys, tumblr, dusk, endless roads, bokeh, Christmas lights, makeup, hats, anime, indie boys, autumn, winter, fog, rain, december sun, baking, dreaming, optimistic yet pessimistic from time to time, … I'll take a photo of anything; portraits, still nature, conceptual and landscape. Mostly, my work is full of bright and colorful photos but an occasional trip to black and white is always a good thing. I'll experiment with anything.
I’ve been getting a lot of questions asking me how I process my photos, to tell you “the secret”. I really don’t know how to answer that. There isn’t a big secret at all.
Ok. Processing is like applying makeup. It is all about enhancing the best and hiding the less good parts of your photo. Secondly - the light! Photos with good light and sharpness are delight to process. I think that no matter what processing tool you use none of it can save a bad photo. It can only make it worse. Sometimes, I have photos that are a complete dread to post-process, photos with not such a good light, a very high iso (but really, the bad one, not the artsy kind) and off focused. Your best tool for processing should be - practice! Take photos, a lot of them! Experiment with light, try to find a good one.
But, If you’re a bit Photoshop friendly (just as I am), you might wanna consider buying PS actions from various photographs. My favorites would be Wynona Robison (she has a couple of free super cool raw presets, check out her site), Cinnamonrose (always giving out free actions around Christmas), Nichole Van and Childplay’s actions. These I use all the time, with a tweak twist of my own. One action does not give you the same effect if you apply it on two different photos. That’s why you have to get down and start with the tweaking part and adjust it to your liking.
Then, shoot in raw! And you’ll be able to create magic in ACR (Adobe Camera Raw). Use different presets or create your own (adjust the photo and hit “save setting” and it automatically creates a preset, so that later you don’t have to guess what settings you used). I have a couple presets of my own and mostly share it with friends for a try-out.
When I’m not using the actions I mentioned above, my favorite processing tools would be levels and curves. With these you can easily adjust the contrast and light and you can play with creating different tones, especially when using curves. And also, I think applying vignette effect is also important because it makes your photo stand out, in a way. You know, dark edges, contrasty middle part - perfect! But people - less vignette is more. Try not to go overboard and make it look all burned out.
So, all in all I just use mentioned actions/presets and adjust it to my liking. I think the most important thing when processing is to adjust the light and hitting contrast. Then your photo really pops.
Oh, and lately I've been using GIMP for the processing purposes. It really rocks once you get to know what it can do.

It's not coincidence that this girl has the most testimonials i've seen here on flickr, and I'm not new here- believe me. If it's art we're talking about there is no doubt that this young girls work radiates with unbelievable strenght coming from her authentic, intuitive artistic beeing. Not only a great visual artist, this little nordic medieval 'december sun' empress is also a person which draws all those who see and feel that boiling ocean called…well, call it what u will. It has many names derived from science to religion, and it's one of the greatest phenomena in the universe. Here…that ocean takes form of a certain artistry, envisioned trough the amazing spirit of Ines. Her fire within likes to watch the snow and ice, her inner loudness needs listening to the winter wind. There is an endless poetry entangled in these photographs, as well as warmth of her inerself. Dare I go on? Well…only to say: I'm honored to call her my friend and someone from whose soul and vision I can both learn and inspire…and steal. I will. So should U! But u already know that. She wouldn't be showered with so much attention if she didn't have that special something recognised by all of us here. And yes, she is one of the lucky ones to be able to express that richness trough photographic media as true art for all to see.
