I'm Susie Lubell and I own MIshmish Studio. A long and winding road got me to Mishmish. I've been painting since I was small. I have very vivid memories of things I painted when I was in fouth grade. Even before. I wish I'd kept them. I'm a purger though. I'll let you in on a secret. I don't keep all of my kids art either. Only the Matisses. But my kids are two and four so they do a lot of Matisses. But before I was a painter I was a lot of other things. A teacher. A waitress. A grant writer. A backpacker. A student. A marketer. A copywriter.

Mishmish began in January 2009. Ten years ago I started painting the funny figures in the Inner Toddler collection. I turned them into a small business called Ned Design. But then I got a full time job and had two babies and I stopped making time to paint. And then I turned thirty-five this year and since it's the year of the Ox (I'm an Ox) I thought, darn it all if I can't do what I want to do AND be a mom AND make enough money to buy a pair of cute shoes from time to time. And pay for preschool. Yikes. Anyway, Ned has been rebranded as Inner Toddler, one of the Mishmish collections and incidentally the name of my blog about parenting small chaotic people. I've gone on to create several more lines of work and I hope to keep building on this momentum.
