I first became interested in photography about 9 years ago. I was always drawn to the unusual as well as the more traditional pictures. I often look for and try to capture the abstract within the natural. I am blessed to be living in beautiful Western North Carolina, a region with hundreds of waterfalls and amazing mountain vistas. While I find it fun and challenging to hike these hills and photograph the beauty of the area, I often find just as much inspiration in an old abandoned house, or a detail on a rusty piece of machinery. Standing behind the camera, I try to slow down and look deeply. There is beauty to be found in unexpected places and things. We see it every day but often fail to recognize it. By triggering the shutter, I attempt to take a piece of it away with me.
