I'm an amateur photogrpaher always with a diary camera at hand. I usually do a little editing and cropping before posting but as little as possible. Sometimes though I do try out some unusual effects just for fun.

As of today (01-27-12) I now have a new Canon EOS Rebel T3i with an 18-135 mm lens and polarizing filter from B and H. I am taking a class for the next few weeks: Insights into Photography. The instructor is devotee and friend of Bryan Peterson. The Canon PowerShot SX110 IS thinks all memory cards are locked now so I decided that was the omen I needed to up my game. I still use the little Panasonic Lumix (woot.com), a step up from the last two cameras: Sony Cybershot DSC-T20 w/ Super Steady Shot and Sony Cyber-Shot U that I bought in 2002. In any case, my cameras fit in the palm of my hand and are very light weight. As for composition and lighting, my eye is getting better but my work is still in the snapshot category and done for my own satisfaction.

I'm still on the fence about getting a heavier, more technical camera with special lenses but I do still have my K1000 and my Dad's Argus " brick" if I want to be more serious.
