I live on the South coast of England.
I am a psychologist by profession and love taking my Jack Russell, Ollie for walks on the beach.
I've only had a digital camera a few months and only been on Flickr a couple of weeks, so feel like a real beginner, which I think is a good place to be.
Have become instantly addicted to Flickr and also really inspired by roaming freely through other people's photos.
Most of my photos on Flickr at the moment do not involve my own species, so I am currently on a mission to rectify that!

Well, an update is required. I've now been active on flickr for a couple of months and passed the 2000 view point today! The first 1000 seemed to go so slowly, and the second raced by.

I've done something fairly drastic about the lack of humans in my photostream by starting the 365 project and now alternate between creative excitement and downright discomfort. Ah, the joys of being a member of this species!

If you don't have a buddy icon or photographs of your own on show and you're just collecting pictures of women - don't bother. It's your choice to be that creepy and it's my choice to block you.

August 2008 update:

I've been away from Flickr for 7 months as my Research Methods MSc got madly busy (great course though). I submitted the last piece of work (the dissertation) a couple of days ago so am treating myself to some time on Flickr, knowing that the chances are that I'll be re-addicted by the end of the day . . .

December 2009 update:

Well, I've been pretty much absent from Flickr this year, mostly due to my brother Ian dying suddenly at the beginning of the year. It was all as awful as you can imagine, both the loss of him, and all of the grim stuff associated with him dying such as the post-mortem and inquest.
I felt very uncommunicative for a long time and wondered about letting my Flickr membership lapse. Well, it's the last day of 2009, things are better in many ways and I'm still on Flickr. I can't quite imagine putting in the hours (!) I used to each day - taking self-portraits, checking in with all my lovely contacts etc, but I do still enjoy popping in every now and again, to say hello, and to witness the fabulous, creative, funny, and moving visual records of people's lives.

"As I can't write anything rude or nasty, I will simply say, well done for completing the 365 Project. Your photos got better and better and although at the end of it you may not be a better photographer than Mindfulhusband you do have more photographs on Flickr than he has! Quantity vs. quality? Quantity of course."

"Mindfulgirl is very Mindful about her 365 project. She has very eventful ideas, even when time is short in her day. It's not easy to take a self-portrait every day. I can't wait to see what happens next."
