School Daze 2010 and before..."Legacy" - Originally posted April of 2010

I did a tribute to my mom on the 2010 version of the Pink Ribbon Tree.
Please check it out. Others did the same for a loved one or just put their own name on the tree as advocates of Breast Cancer Awareness. See it here:

Of all the attributes my mama had, I would wish Erin the calm acceptance of what one has to face. At age 77 Mama faced breast cancer with the fortitude with which she faced everything. Her fight with cancer made her five daughters, one daughter-in-law and four adult granddaughters "aware" of this potentially devastating disease in a way they never had been before.

And one small eight-year-old learned the importance of getting a mammogram. She took that knowledge to a higher level, filming a short documentary on breast cancer for a school Reflections project - interviewing not only her grandma, but two other people for different perspectives.

I'd call that a Legacy, wouldn't you?

Oh, and who won the "fight"? Mama did,
completely cancer free when she passed away two years ago in January...

I'm a Christian woman, wife, older mom of 2 (one 16 (eeek!), one 12 - I'm 52 at the moment) who likes to photo her kids and do "layouts" that chronicle our life. I've done it for years, called it "scraplooking" - way before I had heard of digital scrapping. It is cathartic for me - we have a lot of stress w/a son with Asperger's and an effervescent daughter (some would say hyper). I have about 3 medical conditions. Creating gets my mind off it. My motto: One day at a time, Sweet Jesus. It's the only thing that gets me through...

Mimi's the nickname my late father gave me. It brings him closer to use it. Up until 2008, I actively had a home business designing and selling gift items on my computer. Still do it for creativity sake (design on the computer). I love to read and recently learned to play Monopoly - my kids love it. Ah, that power of money and the desire for it sinks in early, doesn't it?

I love old movies, winding down with a good book and a chocolate shake. I'm pretty boring, really. I love to chill.

    Sharon's Shotz (Gangie) says:

"mimitalks creations leave me in awe! She is such a talented lady in her creation of her paper dolls, digital scrapbooks, website, animated gifs. I could go on and on.

One can see she has a super sense of humour, a deep spiritual side and most importantly a side that is a very proud mom of two and a wife. One can sense this from the creations she posts both here and on her website.

If you get a chance to visit her site, there are tutorials there, some great animated creations, more of what you see here in flickr.

I truly look forward to seeing everything she creates :-) Oh and if you get a chance try to figure out what is on her daughter's head in her Here kitty kitty set ...it's driving me lupey. ;-)"
