My name is Megan Bishop, and I am a maker of beautiful things.

I graduated from the Minneapolis College of Art + Design (MCAD) in 2006 with a BFA in Illustration. While at MCAD, I studied photography, drawing, printmaking, comic arts, bookbinding, graphic design, and web design. In 2002 I began seriously sewing and creating products under the name of Milkypop. In 2006 I ended Milkypop and began work on Apatico - clothing and accessories with a darker, edgier aesthetic.

In 2008 I began collaborating with other designers in Minneapolis to produce our own unique brand of fashion shows. We formed The Libertine Asylum in order to promote beauty and decadence - essentially "bringing fancy back". I am the lead graphic designer for the Libertine Asylum, creating all print, web, and promotional materials.

Additionally, in late 2008 I began to learn the art and craft of millinery, which quickly became my primary focus. In 2010 I made the decision to stop making clothing altogether. My work became a celebration of beauty and whimsy. I'm always striving to create beautiful, clever, fun, fancy hats!

From the Apatico website:

"Apatico: Purveyor of fanciness for men and women.

At times a visual cacophony of history, nature, beauty, life & death, light & dark; others a soft whisper of silk and feathers across an anticipating brow -

A fantasy, a beautiful decay; one for imperfect perfectionists, unromantic romantics, doers, dreamers, lovers (but never haters).

Hats that have no place in this day and age.

Frivolous, dainty things that catch hold and inspire.

Discordant, decadent, elaborate and elegant trifles to adorn the finest and the farthest fallen: Trollops & tarts, dandies & dames, this is all for you."

In my spare time I like to explore my new city of Seattle, WA. I love trees, dressing up extravagantly for nights on the town, owls, and karaoke.
