My name is Mikkel Stig Larsen. I am born and raised in Denmark in Northern Europe. I grew up in a very small town in a very typical Danish family. A mother, a father and an older sister. I was spoiled as a child, not in the sense that I always got what I wanted, but I come from a very secure family, a family that I thank for everything to this day. I have moved around in Denmark a lot. First on Zealand, then Jutland and at the moment, I am finalizing my plans to make an even bigger move, to leave my roots in Denmark and move to China.

Photography is a reasonably new field for me. I only bought my first digital SLR camera (a Canon EOS 1000D) in March 2009, and so, it is fair to say that I have not been doing this for very long. But wanting to try and capture lasting images and lasting impressions of the world that I live In, especially through photography, is an interest that I have had for several years, but without having the means to do anything about it. And so when I first bought my camera, I was thrilled, excited and definitely ready to go. I am still a university student, and as such I am by no means a professional photographer. This is a hobby to me, at the moment at least, but a hobby that I will always hope I can more time to work with.

I currently live in Aalborg, Denmark, the 3rd largest city in the country with around 120.000 inhabitants, where an estimated 25-30.000 are students at my own age. This makes Aalborg a very interesting city and it makes the city become very much alive. There are lots of different environments in the city and nearby areas and so, Aalborg, to me, is a very good place to experiment and many of my best pictures are taken here.

I am also studying for a Bachelors Degree in Medialogy at Aalborg University. A subject that has greatly enhanced my passion for design, interfaces and working with images and pictures. I was always interested in pictures and photography, but this course at the university gave me the final push that I needed to actually get started. A part from my studies, I have a part time job and then I try to spend as much time taking pictures as possible. I am associated with the Danish nightlife portal Denmark By Night (DKBN) where I take pictures in the famous Jomfru Ane Gade in Central Aalborg.
