I like photography. My main camera nowadays is a Pentax K10D. I use a Sigma 50-500mm f/4-6.3 EX DG for my wildlife and motorsports stuff. Macro work is done mainly with manual focus lenses from my 35mm days - I can't see any reason for not using them any more. I've now started to use extension tubes, which is allowing me to get a lot closer to the subject. It's early days, but I reckon I should get some good shots with them.

Mostly at the moment I photograph birds as they're interesting wildlife you don't have to hide for days in a ditch to see. Sooner or later I can see myself hiding in ditches to photograph mating badgers but for now I'm taking it easy.

I also want to get into photographing motorsports in a big way. We'll see how a trip to the British Grand Prix 2009 turns out.

BTCC Oulton Park 2008 Pile Up! by "Mike Foster"


Having now bought some cheap end macro stuff off eBay I'm getting some half-decent close macro work done. I'm still finding it a steep learning curve and it doesn't help that the more I do the more equipment I seem to need.
