Although I love taking pics I still class myself as a photographic hobbyist and don't take my photography too seriously.

Being a nostalgia freak I miss seeing lots of places I used to go to as a kid in the sixties and seventies (Cinemas, Newcastle Mayfair, pubs, swimming pools etc.) that aren't there anymore. Because film was so expensive then lots of these buildings weren't recorded for posterity!

For this reason I think digital photography is a great medium to preserve records of these types of places for future generations.

I also quite like taking nature shots but find my Tamron 28-300mm is just not quite long enough to get good bird shots.

I've progressed through several point and shoots to finally buying a DSLR. and now have a Sony A200 with said Tamron, a Sony 18-75 kit lens and also I recently bought a Sony 50mm "portrait" lens.
