I like to make art without thinking too much about the final product. These pieces exist inside of me and they need to get out., I am merely transferring the energy that passes through me into something visual. Because my work is non-representational it is difficult to explain the meaning behind it. The work is based largely in experimentation. Shapes, lines, and colors show up and I decide what stays and what goes; what areas need more of one thing and less of another. Sometimes this happens very quickly and other times the process is slow and tedious. But the goal is always to create the feeling of a whole. As I create, I look for: color relationships, movement, texture, spontaneity, expression, confidence, balance, and anything else I feel a particular work may need. These aspects show up layer upon layer until I can see that the piece is complete.

I like art that is open to interpretation and can't be defined or explained by words alone. It should be more about a feeling than an idea. Art should always be free to grow into something bigger than an idea.
