Still grumpy and still somewhat sane. Still enjoying people (especially my grand daughters) and places all around me.

By day I am a technical writer for a rather large aerospace company. By night I am anything but. I thoroughly enjoy capturing sunsets in an abstract way, marveling at the Pacific Northwest color palate which I’ve finally come to grips with, in a very pleasant way, after all these years. I’ve been experimenting with ICM (thanks to Hilary Stephens in Vancouver, CA) for the last year trying it out on almost any subject, but focusing more and more on seagulls (any bird really) water and, the aforementioned sunsets. It’s a form of therapy and is very relaxing to me.

When I’m not out shooting pictures I am either learning Photoshop, visiting on Flickr, playing with my grand daughters, or in the kitchen cooking. Another passion and something I love to experiment with. I participated in and graduated from, with honors, a one year culinary program several years ago. A lot of work and a lot of fun.

Thanks for stopping by and visiting my photo stream. Feel free to leave comments if you wish.

    photos and tea says:

"Michael is an incredible artist, and he captures shape, movement, and flow in the most beautiful ways. With each image, you can feel his genuine reverence for his subject, and whether that subject is natural, like the sea or a gull in motion, or manmade, like a skyline at dusk, each is imbued with his uniquely graceful touch.

It is a pleasure to follow Michael's work, and I am always grateful for his generous and supportive comments on mine. He is a kind contact and a friend."

"Michael possesses a remarkable sense of how to capture motion in photography. His work with intentional camera movement is inspiring, delightful and quite beautiful. I am especially drawn to how wonderfully he captures gulls in flight. If you take a swim through his photostream and check out the various ways he has captured his gulls, you will see a lovely aviary ballet begin to unfold before your eyes.

And, equally important, he's a delightful person as well!"

"Michael is one of my favourite people on Flickr. His work is varied, creative and interesting and he's willing to experiment, have fun and clearly is passionate about his photography. I am enjoying his recent foray into ICM work and he has an incredible gift at capturing his city skyline of Seattle brilliantly with vertical motion, which is very difficult to do and his images show great ease with these city shots.
Michael is one of those rare contacts who I call "friend", someone who's work I always want to see right away when he posts something new. His passion for photography, compassion for people, generosity of spirit, quest for experimentation and tenacity in working to get it just right are inspirational to me. I enjoy watching his work evolve over the months and just get better and better and better!! Michael is a caring, creative and rare find in this community of Flickr and I am glad to know him and his work."
