At the heart of all my work there is an incurable focus on questioning ‘beauty', with many of the images celebrating the banal. To Be totally honest, I’m not that interested in photography, but have more regard for the art it presents. When considering my attraction to photography as an art form, I don’t know if it can be precisely articulated. Fortunately for me, to verbally articulate my intentions could be an anathema to artistic expression. As noted by Stephen Shore,
‘Often we think without words, not just words spoken, but not even words in one’s head.’
These words, albeit not my own, best describe my purpose for adopting photography;
it allows me to visually express verbally inept concepts. In a, then, failed attempt to explain my fondness for photography;
by its duplicative quality I am able to present my artistic intentions by appropriating what we recognize as reality.
