I'm Michael Beach, a Charleston, SC-based fashion, portrait, commercial, and wedding photographer.

I was born and raised right here in Charleston, and have been in love with photography since an early age. I started out shooting exclusively landscapes, flowers, and various still lifes.

Photography was my escape, and so I very intentionally didn't want to include any people in the process; portraiture wasn't something I thought I would ever enjoy.

When my niece was born I started taking pictures of her, as any doting uncle does. People I shared them with were very enthusiastic, and I chalked it up to friends being nice and family loving any picture of the little one that was put in front of them.

Time went on and I realized that I actually was pretty good at taking pictures of people. Then the light went on one day and I realized that having someone in front of the lens enhanced my enjoyment of the process. The smiles on their faces when they look at beautiful images of themselves or their loved ones are truly priceless.

Several years back I began offering my services to models who needed to build up their portfolios and through that avenue have come to know some of my dearest friends. It's where my real passion lies these days.

I've definitely been bitten by the travel bug; I'm looking to do as much of it as possible in 2011, with a trip to Los Angeles in the works for this summer. If things work out, New York in the Fall is in the cards as well.
