Basic Information:

Though I consider myself to be an avid-amateur, I have taken photography workshops from The Savannah College of Art and Design, Maine Photography Workshops and The Center for Photography at Woodstock. I also took the Professional Photographer program of the New York Institute of Photography.

Artist’s Statement:

There are those who say photographers observe rather than participate in life. I, however, have discovered that the camera brings life into focus and leads me to a greater appreciation and understanding of the universe in which we live. Photography opens me to the infinite variety and surprise of life.

I, therefore, want my photographs to reflect what is more natural and spontaneous, rather than what is "perfectly" planned and orchestrated. I want them to reflect a quiet and dignified love of the gift of life and to remind me that life is art, not business.

Finally, though I believe art is more than a simple representation of beauty, I lately have felt surrounded and overwhelmed by lies and deceit, the horrors of war and social injustice, and by the misuse of religion. Knowing that I find it all too easy to wallow in the ugliness of life, I now consciously work to remind myself that there is still beauty in this world. I, therefore, want my photographs to help me to find and share this goodness and beauty.

"Actually I don't know Mark personally or talked to him but I'm fascinated of his work. every collection and album is meaningful and very inspirational!
His models are simply fantastic and especially his art makes the models what they really are. Mark's photography is very own and you couldn't imitate, no matter how hard you would try.
It's a great present to be one of Mark's contacts and to see his work every day.

thank you so much Mark, P.-Corp.!"

"I fell across Mark's photostream quite early in my time with Flickr. I was immediately impressed with what I saw and resolved to try to learn from it. Mark's pictures are always thoughtful and carefully shot; many of them are first-class. An enthusiastic amateur perhaps, but one who has a great eye for a shot and knows how to use his camera. His love of life and appreciation of beauty shine out of his photographs; they almost all have a certain serenity that makes them restful and uplifting to view.
I hope you will all enjoy Mark's work as much as I am doing."
