I'm a wildlife biologist who spends much of the year tromping around relatively remote parts of British Columbia.

I'm a fan of point and shoot cameras, for their convenience. Even though the quality isn't as good as I could get with a SLR, I'm quite happy toting around just a little, compact box.

Most of the photos were taken by me or my wife, Cynthia.

    Wayne Weber says:

"I have known Michael (mgsbird) for more than 30 years, and he is an outstanding birder, naturalist, biologist, and photographer. I am amazed at the breadth of his interests, and the depth of his knowledge in many of them.

One never knows what will appear next in his photostream-- a bird, a butterfly, a lizard, a wildflower, or a scenic photo from goodness knows where. It may be from British Columbia, the Yukon, Utah, Mexico, or Antarctica. The next photo to appear may be one he took yesterday, or one he took in the 1970s on film, and scanned to create a digital image. This element of surprise, of not knowing what will show up next, is one of the things that keeps me glued to his photostream.

Michael's photography combines true artistry with scientific accuracy: an effort to correctly identify each species of animal or plant he has photographed. Please keep up the great work, Michael-- I will keep enjoying your photos as long as you keep posting them!"
