  "Well...there is always something intrinsicaly brilliant, as well as scary about ''wunderkinds'' around the world. Mariela's work speaks of many things; youth, experiment, fear as well as bravery, pure life and dirty streets. There is a decadent touch of her brush up against that worldly canvas taken there and given to us here...u can almost smell it, like visual thick oil that most of her work possesses. It symbolizes passing youth yet eternal theme, poorness that is the ''here and now'' yet fullness that is that which keeps returning trough ages in many shapes and forms...and that is exactly life; here portrayed trough faces and often brutal violent expressions of young people.
  This girl likes raw material, no doubt about. It speeks loudly to her, as well as others who aren't too aristocratic to see and percieve the meaning behind the flow of life, faces, hair-dos, smiles and piercings.
