Flickr has been my passion for the last five years, and it's been a wonderfully creative outlet for me to sharpen my photography skills as well as meet some very fine photographers. I hope my flickr website will give you a glimpse into my life and the things I count as most important. Not only that, but I hope I can continue to build on the existing friendships I've made here, as well as make many more.

If you're wondering a little bit about who Maryland Route 5 might be, I can tell you that I'm a native Washingtonian, and that I've spent nearly all of my life in and around Washington, DC and suburban Maryland and Virginia, with a brief stint in Nashville, TN when I was in college, and an even briefer stint in Rehoboth Beach, DE. Oh, and btw, the name Maryland Route 5 is borrowed from the north-south route that bisects southern Maryland from the District of Columbia to Point Lookout, MD. So much of my life is tied up with people and events along Maryland Route 5, including my own.

Feel free to add me as a contact or friend, and enjoy!
All the best,
Doug

"I haven't actually met Doug in real life, even though it feels like he has been a friend for some time. He is always keeping me on track with my photography hobby when time becomes slim and reminds me of my true passions. His images are outstanding and encourage me to continue traveling and shooting as I go along. He's always there to help me decide on a new camera purchase and is constantly so optimistic. We balance one another out since he has traveled the East Coast and I'm yet still lagging behind in that section of the US. I appreciate my friendship with him."

"Great seeing your comment about Seventh-day Adventist. I would love to hear the story of the kindness an SDA had given you! (=
Our GC session was such a wonderful event, and its great seeing many from around the world who are very nice in the SDA church!"

Doug's photos are interesting, well done & taken with a fine sense to detail, he captures Washington D.C. & surrounding area with his expert eye.....Maryland Route 5, always a pleasure to view!"

"It's hard to believe that I have never met Doug, because I FEEL like I've known him for years. Not only is his photography excellent and imbued with both a sense of fun and reverence, but he is an exceptionally nice person as well. I look forward to meeting him one day. :)"

"Doug's a great flickr friend. I enjoy his images, particularly those from my old stomping ground in PG County and from all his great trips [and food shots!], as well as all his encouraging comments. It's folks like Doug that make flickr. Clone him!"
