Two of my photographs will be auctioned off as part of The New York Academy of Art's TAKE HOME A NUDE® ART AUCTION AND PARTY at Phillips de Pury & Company April 16th, 2008. The photos are "Shrouded Figure" and "Shadow Play" in my portfolio.

As a photographer, Matthew McMullen Smith seeks out beauty in the ordinary–thoroughly absorbed in possibility and constantly striving to capture the world the way he sees it. Influenced at an early age by the Chiaroscuro of the old master painters Matthew seeks to bring that use of light to his photography. Shooting primarily monochrome images he is not content to limit how he captures his images by using anything from a 35mm slr to medium format to toy cameras and the latest in digital capture.

Working in New York City and Saugerties, NY Matthew is looking for models that have lots of personality and are willing to do things a little different. His goal is not to make pretty pictures but photographs that have a lot of depth and meaning even if it's just a portrait.

Matthew is currently working on a series titled Drop, a study of water droplets on the human form.

Prints of my work are available ranging in price from $150 to $350 depending on size. All prints are Digital C-Prints (on Ilford RC paper if black and white). Please contact me if you are interested in purchasing.
