Martin Baker was born in London 1969 where he still resides today. He started taking photographs at the age of 8 and a year later he had advanced to developing and printing his own work.

Early photographic influences were David Bailey, Lord Litchfield and sneaked glances as a child at the Pirelli and Unipart calendars of the 70s and the big TV documentaries that accompanied them.

Later influence has come from the likes of the late Helmut Newton, John Dietrich, Kattaryna Breaux, Cecil Beaton and the styles of the 1920s personified by portraits of Louise Brooks

Further inspiration has come from Art Deco, the 'pinup' art of the 1950s, the hard to avoid 1960s & 70s, BDSM & fetishism.
