There are painters who transform the sun to a yellow spot, but there are others who with the help of their art and their intelligence, transform a yellow spot into the sun.

Melissa's speedy rise as a photographer is really inspiring and the pictures that she shoots?
Superb :)"20th October, 2007

"Melissa has an eye for the magical, and the skills to pay the bills!!! She is one of my very favorite photographers, and our shared passion for photography has brought us to friendship. I look to Melissa for inspiration constantly... her images have a sublime, real & ethereal quality, and I think she captures the soul of her subjects in a way that escapes many photographers."

Tonya Doughty says:
"Melissa is one of the first photographers to come to my mind when I'm thinking about style. Her photos have an authentic quality that lets me see that glimpse of something magic in each of her subjects. Finding that spark is a talent and she so generously shares it here. I look forward to every time she posts!

"There are a few folks on flickr that I call friends (the others are below me in these testimonials) and I am so happy that Melissa is one of them. She's smart, she's real, she's extremely talented and above all else she is generous.
"Thousands of candles can be lit from a single candle, and the life of the candle will not be shortened. Happiness never decreases by being shared."9th August, 2007

Eric Hamilton says:
"Stunning photos. I think it's a little much to add somebody's entire stream to favorites. With Melissa, I am tempted."

"one of my best flickr friends. she not only encourages me to be a better photographer, she shares her secrets with me! her work inspires me to do more portraits, because honestly, few people are rockin' flickr with stuff like melissa's. i know she's going to be a famous photographer one day, and she'll totally forget about me, but i'll be able to tell people that the picture of the girl giving the double bird that's hanging in my house is her sister, and she shot it for me, and made me a print and sent it to me.
watch her stream. she's got an amazing eye, and it just keeps getting better and better.
i adore her. i cannot believe it's taken me this long to write a testimonial for her."26th May, 2007

"Melissa is one of the most sincere, friendly and talented flickrers you'll ever find. She's been a source of great ideas, of usable feedback, of genuine encouragement and, above all, friendship. Her love for her family, her friends and for photography come bursting through in her work. It's a delight to interact with such a kind individual as Melissa."

Girlabroad says:
"Motherhood is a wonderful thing, but it requires such extreme self-sacrifice that women often get lost in it, succumbing to the "soccermom" stereotype. What I love about Melissa's work is that it shows that while she's a mom, she's still very much a woman, and always striving, thinking, creating, experimenting and expressing herself. I try to do the same, and I find friendship and inspiration here."

"i come to mayize's site everyday, not because she's the best craftsperson -- although she is one of the best i've seen on flickr (what amazing growth, mayize) -- and not because her work is the most creative -- although everyday reveals greater and greater depths of creativity (just take a look at her projection work for an example). no...i come to mayize's site because she makes me feel. whether it is the consistently powerful shooting of her son, ares, or the everyday simplicity of my favorite shot, "bus," i can't look at mayize's work without it changing my mood. and, for better or worse, that is what art should do. thanks mayize."

"Just when you're sucked into the family shots - the original kid shots - she hits you with a sexy-get-your-hand-off-the-mouse shot of herself doing next to nothing or posed for the effect it delivers. I'm always checking in."

"I am always delighted to see new photos from Mayize. I enjoy that her photos range from a typical "mom-shot" to inventive and creative. Her multiplicity/clone shots blow me away everytime and intimidate me to even attempt it."

Mary Jane 2040 says:
"There are many charming qualities in Mayize's stream; but what always makes me excited about seeing her work is her constant inventiveness. She gets an idea and she acts, and often she experiments.
If she'd been around during the Enlightenment she'd probably have been sticking things into her eye-sockets to see how her vision was altered. The Puritans would definitely have burnt her at the stake for refusing to accept the Status Quo. In the nineteenth century Mayize would have been an experimental film-maker. We're just lucky she's around now; finding new ways to look at everyday life."27th March, 2006
