A software engineer hailing from Cambridge, currently living and working in Nottingham. My hobbies include writing, reading, computer programming (what, more? Yes!), playing PARANOIA and playing recorder and viola de gamba. And singing. And aikido. Occasionally I take photographs of things which I then sometimes upload to Flickr. Sometimes they're photos of things I cooked, and sometimes they're photos of dreadful grammatical errors like misuse of the apostrophe. I don't upload photos of everything I cooked, even when it was interesting, because sometimes I'm too lazy (or too hungry) to get my camera.

I am not a good photographer, but I consider my current abilities sufficient to take some useful photos and tend to muck around when I'm doing so in an attempt to learn how to do it better. Therefore I tend to take lots of pictures of the same thing, which then waste lots of space on my file server's hard drive because most of them are awful but I can't bring myself to delete them just in case.

If you really want to know, which you don't, my primary work-related skills are in C++, Java and Perl. I've got a degree in Computer Science and once started a PhD in it, but didn't finish it. I mostly seem to end up writing network servers of various sorts targetting UNIX systems, but I really enjoy desktop application work.
