I started photography seriously in 1991, when I purchased my first SLR, Canon EOS 1000F. It all began after reading an article in the Wings of Gold magazine (then the airline MAS in-flight magazine) which I read on the flight back from the UK.

Coming from the 'ole skool' background, I still remember:

i. how to 'dodge and burn' photographs without using a mouse, screen and Photoshop,

ii. how to load a bulk film.

iii. that E6 and C41 do not represent code names for explosives.

Being techno-savvy and an early adopter, I went digital in 2001 (considered a novelty then) when digital cameras were much more expensive then now. I purchased a 3.2 MP Sony Cybershot (hi-end P&S at the time) for close to RM3k and never looked back.

From a serious hobbyist to an income earner, I turned photographer-for-hire in 2003 when I got a job to cover an event for a big public listed company. Begging my old man for a 'soft loan', I purchased my first DSLR, the Canon EOS10D for a head-banging price of almost RM6k, just so that I could cover the assignment.

The rest as they say, is history.
