The island of Kadavu is located South of Viti Levu. We receive 2 flights a day - one from Nadi - 45 mins (Sun Air) and one from Suva - 30 mins (Air Fiji). We will collect you from the airport on Kadavu for the 50 minute boat ride to the resort.

Dining at Matava takes place on the balcony of the ‘bure levu’, where guests enjoy an imaginative blend of local and international cuisines, while sharing conversation and friendship. Our game boat ‘BITE ME’ is chartered mainly for game fishing. Few boats however offer a better platform to cruise our waters and we offer combinations of half day, single day fishing, fishing packages, cruising and island hopping charters. BITE ME is a DeepVee 310 which has the legendary Raymond Hunt designed hull with its reputation for a smooth ride and superb sea keeping characteristics. We cruise at ease at 22 – 25 knots and carry a plethora of electronics and safety equipment, satellite navigation, radar/sounder/chart plotter, and 6 man liferaft for your ultimate safety and comfort.

Discover the surrounding picturesque islands or explore nearby villages and river systems. In association with Tamarillo Sea kayaking, we offer one day guided and overnight kayak adventures. The itinerary is tailored to the weather and your interests. Our overnight kayak adventure begins with a leisurely guided kayak from the resort to a Nacomoto village, pausing along the way for some snorkelling and a picnic lunch on a secluded sandy beach. After arriving at the village, you present your “sevu sevu”, a gift of a bundle of Kava root, and receive the traditional welcome from the village chief and elders. Then a local guide from the village will take you on a walk into the hills to see some sights of historic interest. The guide is extremely knowledgeable about the history of the region and the surrounding flora and fauna. Then cool off in the hidden waterfall where the guide will offer you some green coconut milk straight from the tree. Dinner is back at the village with the elders and the family you will be staying with. You will be invited to join in the ensuing kava ceremony and hear the ancient stories of the village elders. After a good night’s sleep and a hearty breakfast a boat will collect guests (or they can choose to kayak back or on to another village and another adventure!)
