I am an empty nester living in Bloomington MN with my husband who is retired Air Force. Mostly we have been stationed stateside.
I have enjoyed photography since I was old enough to get my first instamatic camera with "magic cubes"! When I was a young child I used to like to take pictures of the Corapolis Memorial day parade, I loved parades. I think of all the places I've been and feel sad that I didn't document by photographing all the things that aren't around anymore. Go out and take lots of photos, because eventually that will be the only evidence of what was.
Update May 18, 2009: I love taking pictures of all kinds and going out to find any place that I think is interesting. Some people have different views on graffit whether it is vandalism or art, it's both. Any graffiti on my photostream is there because it caught my eye and I think it's art, and it is worth preserving. Like photography graffiti takes time and talent and imagination. So go out there and enjoy yourselves.
Please do not use my photos without asking me first. I have had many requests for the use of my photos, while that's nice please consider buying a print.
Update October 2011, It's been a busy month. My husband and I finally realized our dream, we sold our house in the cities and built a house in Northern MN. It's probably going to take awhile to adjust from living in the cities to living in a rural area, I'm a city girl from birth.
Our daughter, Sarah also got married this October to a very nice young man, Travis, all in all it has been hectic but I'm so glad that we all enjoyed it.

Lisanne! says:
"I made a list of things to do awhile back. The 3rd item on the list was to write a testimonial for krstl_blu. The first item was to put the list in a safe place for later. I've forgotten where the list is. But I do remember that I wanted to write something about Mary's photography.
Those of us who care about the landscape of our ever-changing world want to do something about it. Some go to boring meetings where they attempt to persuade politicians to leave historically important places alone. Some write windy books about preservationism. Mary and I take photographs. I believe that in our small way we too help make a difference. I'd like to think that we have increased awareness of the need for preservation. What we often take for granted will be lost if they are not protected.
Mary's photographs allow us glimpses into a past that still exists because of preservation efforts as well as the pieces of history that are neglected and in need of some caring restoration. She has wonderfully created a visual record of the artifacts of an industrial society which is all too quickly receding from memory. Mary's work is not only important now, but in the future will have value as a historical resource. I am quite sure that a hundred years from now she will be considered one of the important documentarians of the Midwestern United States.
Maybe someday Mary and I will write a windy book about preservationism. But we'll have a lot of photographs in the middle."4th June, 2008
