I am a mother and a professional photographer. I have always loved taking pictures. I used to always buy those disposable cameras when I was a teenager, and I wanted so bad to be in the yearbook class in high school (so I could be the photographer) but took advanced placement art instead. I see art in everything, and since I have gotten so deep into photography I am seeing everything with a new vision. I watch movies differently and read magazines differently. Have you seen how beautiful the world is lately?

In 2005 my dad gave me my first digital camera and I took hundreds and hundreds of pictures of my kids, and lots of macros too (I <3 macro). I guess I was pretty good because he felt like it was time for me to graduate to a dslr Christmas 2007. He passed down his Nikon D100 to me and since then I have taken so many more photos, thousands of them. It really took off with the birth of my son, all of a sudden I had a subject that couldnt run away and I got to practice so much more. Something inside woke up then and I realized that with my weird job history and really just hating the office world all together, photography is what I should be doing. I have never been happier with what I am doing with my life, and being able to share it with friends and clients is so rewarding. I just love it.

Now I have upgraded my gear to a Nikon D90 and I have a few more lenses. I am shooting for a local magazine and two sister magazines and I love it. Its a great feeling to see photos you have taken in print and to know hundreds of thousands of people are seeing what I have done.

I owe tons of my experience to Flickr, without it and the groups I belong to, the contacts I have gained, my photography would not have grown as much as it has. I would still be missing something in my life.
