    JakeCampbell says:

"I'm new to Mario Laulau's work, and I agree with all the comments about his skill and vision, but I want to praise a part of his work, or an aspect of his work that touched me. He is a great story-teller. His images, even one single image, spills out of the page or from the screen into my mind carrying so much information and so organized as a story, that I am truly uplifted and encouraged with his view of the world.

I have a friend who moved to Sao Paulo recently and I was hungry for news of what life there can be like. The answer came in a flash! Mario Lalau showed me precision and in depth glimpses of the life of the city. Now, my friend Dimitri Triemgisto, can refer to the city of Sao Paulo and I have a vivid contextual set of images in which to place the stories he tells me. Dimitri pointed me to Lario Lalau's work, and I am grateful. Dimitri, you are always finding great artists!!!

I think I have to mention one of the minor aspects of his work, also. The motor-boy, the courrier, whose motorbike was in a crash, and whose friend showed up, another motor-boy, anguished to see his dear friend unconscious on the ground...and the little comment by Mario Lalau, "...3 die a day...." I began to see not the glamorous only, but also the real, the real Sao Paulo, and this happened over and over.

His subjects seem to pause their superficial activity and become totally self-conscious under the gaze of his camera lense, and it is as if I am being introduced individually to each person he photographs, either carinival costumed beauties, or simple friends at home. This man is a great story teller, and he does it with something like magical intuiton or vision into the character of each subject. Characterization makes for great plots, and stories, and Mario is able to characterize persons rapidly in an instant...and then present it to us for study.

    Beautiful work!!"

    KEINY ANDRADE says:

"Lalau is a great photographer and really creative. Nowadays, he has been built up a good sense of esthetic with colors and compositions. His curiosity with picture's treatment technology is going to take him to different fields of photography.
This way, he is going to show up his great personality in photography. Keep on walking, my friend .... preferably walking on the wild side."
