Marie Fisker comes from Copenhagen, Denmark. Her lo-fi-vintage music is a blend of blues, country and rock. A bitter sweet almost David Lynch alike imaginary expression. Marie has kept instrumentation simple but very effective; everything's carefully slotted in its place to just punctuate and enhance her silky, sultry voice.
In 2004 she established a recording studio in the backyard of an old house in the center of Copenhagen. While writing songs she recorded demos and invited musicians to join her in the studio. As developing the musical sound in the studio, this would be a debut album produced by herself and the drummer Jakob Høyer (The Raveonettes).
Rune Kjeldsen (Rhonda Harris) is the guitar player and Anders Christensen (Rhonda Harris) is the bass player and has been working along in the process adding their vibe and great talents to the music. The legendary punk rock singer Steen Jørgensen (SODS, Sort Sol) sings backing vocals on "City Lies" and on the duet "Good Till Now" - the only cover song on this album by Gillian Welch & David Rawlings.
While working in the studio with her music, she's been supporting various artists. She played at Roskilde Festival '05, which was broadcasted live on the national radio. She was awarded a price of honor as the new upcoming artist 2005 sponsored by Carlsberg. As part of a saturday night program portraying the great legend Johnny Cash on DR2, Danish National Television, she performed a song with Kira Skov (watch it: www.youtube.com/watch?v=5KtsIXqJaME). She re-recorded the song Copenhagen with Steen Jørgensen in collaboration with Trentemøller. The Copenhagen Experience #1 - a fashion film triology by Mads Nørgaard (watch it: www.youtube.com/watch?v=nAgWRaihOO4&feature=related). She also wrote a song for Martin De Thurah's short film "We who stayed behind" nominated at Venice Film Festival '08. Martin is also known for his music video's (Mew, Royksopp, Fever Ray). This summer Trentemøller invited her to sing Sycamore Feeling, which they wrote together, as a guest on stage at the Roskilde festival in front of 50.000 people.
