" Anyone needing a lesson in real life photography, need look no further then this photo stream. Take it slow, study each photo, and know that a master has taken some of the most mesmerizing images that I have ever seen. A life of work about life on this spinning globe we live on. Thanks, Marcelo, for this privelege.

Juan Montecino says:
"What distinguishes my father's photography from the works of the by now widespread "photoshop virtuosos" of the digital age is not mere technical and aesthetic superiority but rather his lifelong concern for the human and ontological toll of life as a photographer. It is one thing, no doubt, to technically master a medium but quite another thing altogether to really live it and explore its implications for the human condition to the bitter end. In hindsight I now know that this observation has only become possible following my political and philosophical coming of age. My father once told me, in the context of his, at times adventurous and at times painful, years as a photojournalist that the hardest part was choosing when it was morally right for him to record history and when it was time to put the camera down and take part in history's making. I believe that this implicit understanding of the inherent problematic of photography in relation to its subjects and content has through the years strengthened the bond between my father's work and the difficult reality which gave rise to it. In a very important sense, his portraits are more than just portraits; they contain more than just the look in people's eyes. More importantly, his digital art is more than a clever and skillful combination of filters and effects but rather a continual testament to the feelings, lives and moods of peoples, places and ages long reduced to mere aesthetic and intellectual clichés. In short, my father's work seeks to reconstitute the bond in art between form and content; the bond that in recent years has so violently been severed by the photoshop virtuoso and the relativism and frivolity of the postmodern obsession with form."
