Me:

Photography:
Have you ever seen that film sequence showing a little snowball gently rolling down a slope, gathering more and more snow until it becomes a devastating avalanche thundering through the valley below and destroying all that lies in its wake?

My involvement in photography has been a lot like that.

High school: 35mm film point and shoot.
Interest level: Occasional snapshots.

Early college: Canon S330.
Interest level: Enjoyable diversion.

Mid-college: Canon A620.
Interest level: Notable hobby.

Late college: Nikon D200.
Interest level: Disturbing obsession.

Last year: Mamiya C330.
Interest level: Talks to cameras.

Recently: Canonet G-III QL17.
Interest level: Cameras talk back, relate plans for world domination

Now: Calumet 4x5 large format view camera
Interest level: Camera has arranged purchase of small island with active volcano for evil lair. Minions hard at work tunneling out facility as we speak.

I take my camera with me when I get up. I put it on my nightstand when I go to sleep. All the time in-between, it's at my side. I might need professional help at this point...

Personal:
I was born, I grew up, and I went to a school. The standard route that most people take these days. Then I went to another, another, and another, and by the time it was all said and done, I knew far too much for my own good. I fell in love with computers, books, writing, art, medicine, gaming, level design, drawing, philosophy, math and music. I ended up being painfully over-educated and have been trying to recover ever since. Former dotcom refugee and survivor.

Along the way I met my wonderful wife, who makes my life a better place.

I read. A lot.

Philosophy:
I love philosophy in the sense that it is related to finding the truth by putting arguments on trial in the light of reason. Simply delightful.

I'm interested in far too many things for my own good.
