Experience

Simon Knight is an international media consultant involved in creative, strategic and business activities.

After studying art at Middlesex and then film at the Polytechnic of Central London (PCL), Simon worked on productions for such as C4, BBC, Partridge Films and Jadran Studios as a film technician (particularly editing) producer, assistant director and writer on productions in film and television. Numbers of these have been shown around the world and won international awards. Lecturing then followed in Further Education and then occasionally in art and media at such as Kingston University, The London School of Economics, the London Institute (Central St.Martins) Academy of Dramatic Art (ADA) Zagreb, and project researching for the European Film Academy and numerous clients.

Strategic and business projects led to capital introduction, deal initiation and research with finance groups such as Grant Thornton, New Bond Street Asset Management (NBSAM) and Pall Mall Capital.

Recent achievements include the re-financing of a film pre-production lending
facility by Fortress Investment Group, bringing them I believe their first ever media deal. This operation was managed by Sara Giles / Freewheel (and Galileo Media and Finance) and backed numbers of feature films such as Paul Verhoeven's Black Book ( Zwartboek ) (www.imdb.com/title/tt0389557/ ) Closing The Ring directed by Richard Attenborough and The Proposition written by Nick Cave. Others projects are such as an MBO and new joint venture in the Film and Television sector and the raising of a new UK/LA film lending and investment group by a well known team, as well as advising production companies such as Off The Fence.

Simon is lucky enough to have participated in numerous film, television and new media conferences and festivals beginning as a jury member of the European
Student Film Festival in Munich with film director, Reinhard Hauff in 1984, and more recently a panelist on pitching for beginners at the Broadcast Production Show in London.
